Published

on

Gouda city is #26 on the New York Times travel list! The New York Times. One of the most established newspapers in the USA, has published a list of recommendations for places to visit: There is also the famous cheese city of the Netherlands on the list! The beloved Dutch city  Gouda was ranked 26th in the annual ’52 locations for a Changing World’ list.

The travel list includes locations where visitors can play a role in solving problems such as intense tourism and climate change.

The Gouda city is home from the 15th-century Stadhuis (Town Hall) to the crusader Sint Janskerk (St. John’s Church); Summer visitors can also watch the century-old cheese market that operates every Thursday. Just 55 minutes from Amsterdam by train, historic Gouda is a convenient day trip destination for travellers looking to stay outside the capital.

Italy was at the top of the list, followed by Mozambique and New York. Gouda, on the other hand, was chosen as one of the ideal cities to promote sustainable travel away from crowds due to the high tourist concern in the Netherlands.

The fact that Gouda is home to Gouda cheese, which dates back to the 12th century and is among the 10 most popular cheese varieties in the world, was also influential in the New York Times’ selection.
