The pollution in the air also canceled the schools in Iran, which were on holiday due to gas savings.
The decision to keep schools closed for two days in Tehran due to gas savings and switch to online education was taken this time due to air pollution.
According to the Iranian official agency IRNA, the Air Pollution Emergency Working Group has decided that all educational institutions in Tehran province, except the cities of Firuzkoh and Damavend, will conduct online training on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
In the news, it was stated that the decision to hold or postpone the exams of university students at the scheduled time was left to the relevant educational institutions.
In the decision of the Air Pollution Emergency Working Group, it was stated that it was forbidden to do sports indoors and outdoors for 2 days, and night traffic of heavy tonnage vehicles other than trucks carrying fuel oil and perishable products would also be prevented.
Tehran Air Quality Control Center also stated that the current average air quality in Tehran is above the 150 index, which means unhealthy conditions for all groups.
In addition to its location that is not suitable for air circulation and population density, the exhaust gases of old model vehicles and commonly used motorcycles are among the factors that increase air pollution in Tehran.
For this reason, schools are frequently vacationed in Tehran, which is stated to be among the top 3 cities in the world’s air pollution ranking.
In the statement made by the Governorship of Elborz, it was stated that the courses will be held online for all education levels, and the decision on the exams is the responsibility of the universities, and it was noted that all construction activities that will increase air pollution will be stopped as well as the restriction of vehicle traffic.
On Mondays and Tuesdays, while institutions worked remotely to save gas, online training was also implemented in schools. While it is expected to return to face-to-face education on Wednesday, the closure period of schools has been extended this time due to air pollution.
