A demonstration was held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, to ban the burning of the Holy Quran.
About 100 people attended the demonstration organized by the Party of Different Colors (Nyans) in front of the Parliament demanding the prohibition of burning the Qur’an.
The demonstrators carried banners that read “Stop the burning of the Holy Quran” and “Stop insulting Muslims”.
Nyans President Mikail Yüksel demanded a minute’s silence for those who lost their lives in the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.
Yüksel stated that Turkey is experiencing the “disaster of the century” and said, “The earthquake disaster in Turkey has deeply saddened us all. While we convey our best wishes to the Turkish people, we also express our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. We also support the aid sent by the Swedish government to earthquake zones and express our gratitude.” used the phrases.
Stating that the burning of the Quran should be banned in Sweden, Yüksel said that this is a hate crime and has no place in democracies.
Stating that Finland does not allow the burning of the Qur’an and that this is prohibited by law in the country, Yüksel said, “Burning of the Qur’an should be banned in Sweden, like Finland. Finland is doing the right thing.” said.
Nyans Vice President Caroline Kassem stated that the burning of the Quran is a hate crime and such acts should be banned.
On the other hand, cardboard models of Jimmie Akesson, the leader of the Sweden Democrats Party, who advocated the burning of the Qur’an within the framework of “freedom of expression”, and Johan Pehrson, the leader of the Liberal Party, who advocated the closure of religious schools attended by the children of Muslims, were brought to the area.
Yuksel, who came side by side with these models, said that both politicians thought and acted like children.
Pointing out that the politicians of other countries were insulted by hanging their models from their feet in Sweden, Yüksel added that they would not hang the models of Akesson and Pehrson from their feet, and that there was a limit to everything, even freedom of expression.
PALUDAN’S PROVOCATIVE ACTIONS
Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish far-right Strict Direction Party, burned the Quran in front of the Stockholm Embassy in Sweden on January 21 in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and no one was allowed to approach Paludan during the protest held under the protection of the crowded police.
There were reactions from many Muslim countries, especially Turkey, to the Swedish government’s permission to burn the Qur’an in Paludan.
Paludan burned the Quran in front of a mosque in Denmark and in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen on January 27.
Edwin Wagensveld, leader of the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA) movement in the Netherlands, tore the Quran in The Hague.
Attacks on the Quran are protested in Turkey and many countries, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark.
