Three Qurans with insults written on and inside were found in different parts of Ronneby district of Karlskrona, Sweden.
Speaking about the attacks on the Holy Quran, Swedish Social Democratic Party leader and former Prime Minister Mandalena Andersson said that those who burn holy books in the country are “useful idiots” for those who want to disrupt relations between Sweden and the Islamic world.
In the news of Swedish state television SVT, it was stated that the Qur’an, on which death threats were written, was found at the bus stop and the others were in public places.
Gudlaug Hilmarsdottir, a member of the Ronneby Islamic Association, made a statement to SVT and said that they are extremely sorry for the incident and that the Quran is their guide in life.
In Ronneby, burned Quran pages and bacon were left in front of the building used by Muslims as a mosque in 2020.
Despite the police announcing that a “hate crime” investigation was launched into the incident, the perpetrators could not be caught.
REACTION FROM FORMER SWEDEN PRIME MINISTER ANDERSON: A DISCRETE MATERIAL…
Swedish Social Democratic Party leader and former Prime Minister Andersson, in a statement to Swedish state television SVT, evaluated Sweden’s membership process to NATO and the burning of the Koran in his country.
Stating that Sweden is going through an important NATO process, Andersson called on the people to help this process. “The fact that in Sweden, according to the freedom of expression law, disgusting things can be done, does not prevent us from thinking that these things are disgusting. If you burn the Qur’an in a distorted mood and encourage it, you will be a useful idiot for the powers that be wishing to spoil the good relations between Sweden and the Islamic world. I also find the initiatives of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to cool the atmosphere in the NATO process as positive.” used the phrases.
Also evaluating the statements of the Sweden Democrats Party that “100 Qurans can be burned within the framework of freedom of expression”, Andersson said, “You always have the right to express yourself. But you also have a responsibility to think about the consequences that may hurt others. Cooperation with the Swedish Democrats Party, which supports the government from outside, is a situation that needs to be reviewed in terms of foreign policy and Sweden’s security.” said.
The leader of the far-right Sweden Democrats Party, Jimmie Akesson, also said in a statement to SVT that he does not advocate burning the Quran, but that he has the right to burn the Quran, just like the Bible, within the framework of freedom of expression.
Criticizing the Social Democratic Party, Akesson said, “The PKK and other terrorist organizations and the Social Democratic Party are intertwined. This is the biggest obstacle in the NATO process.” he said.
THE QURAN WAS BURNED IN SWEDEN AND DENMARK
Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish far-right Strict Direction Party, burned the Quran in front of the Stockholm Embassy in Sweden on January 21 in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and no one was allowed to approach Paludan during the protest held under the protection of the crowded police.
There were reactions from many Islamic countries, especially Turkey, to the Swedish government’s permission to burn the Qur’an in Paludan.
On January 27, Paludan burned the Quran in front of the mosque in Denmark and in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen.
Edwin Wagensveld, the leader of the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA) movement in the Netherlands, tore the Qur’an in a solitary action in The Hague.
Attacks on the Holy Quran are protested in Turkey and many countries in Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark.
