Mohammed Kudus’s goal celebration marked the match between Ajax and Sparta Rotterdam, and the referee’s decision was appreciated.
Round 22 of the Dutch Eredivisie ajax hosted Sparta Rotterdam at home. The home team started the fight fast and took the lead 1-0 with Dusan Tadic’s goal in the sixth minute.
In the 64th minute, Dusan Tadic hit the ball in the penalty shoot-out. The score was 3-0 with the goal of the Serbian star. Mohammed Kudus had the last word in the struggle.
With the goal of the 23-year-old Ghanaian star, Ajax defeated their opponent 4-0 and left the field with three points.
DON’T FORGET ATSU
Hatay was also highly affected by two earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. Continuing his career in Hatay Ghanaian star Christian Atsu. His body was found in the wreckage days after the earthquake.
ATSU WORDS FROM KUDUS
Mohammed Kudus also spoke about the goal celebration. Kudus said for his joy, “This was for Christian. Everyone knows what happened in Turkey. I chose to do this because he is someone dear to me.
I learned a lot from him. He gave me advice on a regular basis. Everything he did today was for her. If I hadn’t scored, I would have shown my shirt at the end of the game.”
With 23 races, the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship will be the longest season in the history of the organization since 1950.
The number of races in 2023, which will start the season with the Bahrain Grand Prix on 5 March, broke the record as the longest in Formula 1 (F1) history and rose to 23. The second year of the fundamental technical rule changes, which were implemented to make the following car less affected by the turbulence caused by the vehicle in front, and to increase the number of passes in the races, is starting. This year, Qatar will return to the calendar, while the US city of Las Vegas will host Formula 1 for the first time since 1982.
While this year’s calendar was planned as 24 races, this number dropped to 23 after the Chinese Grand Prix was canceled due to organizational difficulties caused by the new type of Covid-19 outbreak. Sprint races will increase to 6. The number of sprint races held for the first time in the 2021 season will increase from 3 to 6 this year. In the Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Qatar, USA and Brazil Grand Prix, qualifying tours will be held on the first day of the weekend, and the sprint race will be held on the second day. Trials on the use of the DRS (friction reduction system) on the rear wings of the vehicles will also be made in these 6 sprint races. DRS, which can normally be activated 2 laps after the start or after the safety car leaves the track, can be used one lap later in the sprint races in 2023. The new rule will apply to all races from 2024 unless it causes chaos or accidents. In addition, the revised qualifying format will be tested in both races. Accordingly, the drivers will have to use hard tires in the first session of the qualifying laps, medium tires in the second session, and soft rubber tires in the third session. In the two races where the revised qualifying format will be implemented, drivers will be allocated 11 sets of dry-floor tires instead of 13.
Change to the problem of porpoising
Formula 1 management focused on the porpoising problem posed by ground effect technology, where the downforce is derived from the floor of the vehicle. The problem that causes cars to look like boats moving in rough water is due to the sudden disappearance of the downforce obtained by the air channels at the bottom after a certain point. As you accelerate, the bottom of the vehicle gets closer and closer to the ground due to the downforce that increases. A sudden loss of downforce is experienced as a result of the airflow being cut off at one point. With the suspension suddenly rising, the vehicle moves as if it is bouncing on the road. This cycle is constantly repeating. For this reason, the distance between the bottom edges of the 2023 F1 cars and the ground has been increased by 1.5 centimeters. The ground clearance of the diffuser throat and diffuser edge stiffness have been increased. The size of the rear-view mirrors has been increased from 15 x 5 to 20 x 6 centimeters in order to increase the visibility of the drivers. In addition, the somersault bar was strengthened after the crash of Zhou Guanyu, the driver of the Alfa Romeo team, at Silverstone Circuit last season.
The spending limit cannot exceed $135 million
According to the spending limit introduced in 2021 in order to increase competition, the R&D and production budget of the teams in 2023 was reduced to 135 million dollars. The limit was 145 million dollars in 2021 and 140 million dollars last season. The additional spending entitlement granted to teams if the schedule exceeds 21 races was increased from 1.2 to 1.8 million dollars per race due to increased inflation. The allowance allocated per team for each sprint weekend was also increased from 150 to 300 thousand dollars.
Change of drivers for 6 teams
Red Bull (Max Verstappen-Sergio Perez), who won the drivers’ championship in 2021 and both drivers’ and constructors’ championships last year, as well as Ferrari (Charles Leclerc-Carlos Sainz), Mercedes (Lewis Hamilton-George Russell) and Alfa Romeo ( Valtteri Bottas-Zhou Guanyu) will fight the same drivers in 2023. In the other 6 teams, Lance Stroll (Aston Martin team), Esteban Ocon (Alpine), Lando Norris (McLaren), Kevin Magnussen (Haas), Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri) and Alex Albon (Williams) retained their seats.
Aston Martin filled the vacancy of Sebastian Vettel, who had 4 championships in the organization but decided to retire, with Fernando Alonso, who raced in Alpine last season and won 2 championships in Formula 1. Alpine team transferred Pierre Gasly from AlphaTauri. Haas has replaced the parting ways Mick Schumacher with Nico Hulkenberg, who has not been a full-time driver since 2019. In the new season, 3 drivers will appear in F1 for the first time. Oscar Piastri will replace Daniel Ricciardo, whose contract McLaren has not extended. Nyck de Vries will take the seat vacated by Gasly at AlphaTauri. Logan Sargeant will be behind the wheel of Williams, who is released from Nicholas Latifi. Ricciardo, who could not find a team for himself, will serve as a reserve driver for Red Bull and Schumacher for Mercedes.
Champion Red Bull also strong in testing
The pre-season test, limited to 3 days this year, was held on February 23-25 at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain, which will host the opening race. It was a matter of curiosity whether the Red Bull team, which was fined 7 million dollars in the 2021 season for violating the budget, and the time to spend in the wind tunnel for the development of the car was reduced by 10 percent, would be affected by the penalties. But Red Bull’s new car, RB19, looked strong both in one lap and race pace.
According to the claims in the paddock, the RB19 does not have a ripple problem, although its sole is adjusted to stay closer to the track than its competitors. The car, which did not encounter any serious malfunctions for 3 days, achieved the fastest lap time of the test with a time of 1:30.305, which Perez achieved with C4 tires. Although it did not reveal a clear picture due to variables such as lap times in the tests, track temperature, fuel load of the cars, and the capacity of the engine, Red Bull’s performance was enough to be shown as the favorite for the first race.
Aston Martin approaches Ferrari and Mercedes
Drivers since 2007, Ferrari, the most successful team in history that could not win the championship in the team classification since 2008, and Mercedes, which took the first place in the constructors’ championship after 8 years, preserved the concepts of the last season in 2023 vehicles. Ferrari, where Frederic Vasseur was appointed team director instead of Mattia Binotto, who resigned at the end of last season, completed 416 laps in his new car SF-23, becoming the team that stayed on the track the most after AlphaTauri (456) and Williams (439). Ferrari, which prioritizes durability between the seasons, as its drivers are out of the race many times due to engine failure in 2022, hopes to run the power unit at more aggressive settings in 2023. The SF-23, which the Italian press claimed to have toured with a fuller tank than its competitors during the test, is estimated to be the closest car to Red Bull when the correct settings are found, although it has fluctuation and tire wear problems.
Although the Mercedes W14, which has a black color scheme consisting of mostly unpainted carbon fiber due to weight savings, seems to have survived the fluctuation it suffered in 2022, it is said that Hamilton and Russell could not achieve the balance they wanted. On the other hand, Aston Martin, the 7th in the teams’ classification last year, became the most talked-about team of the test with its new vehicle AMR23, which brought together the designs of Red Bull and Ferrari. Consistent lap times in Alonso’s race simulation in the evening session on the last day of the test led to comments that the AMR23, which is kind to its tires, will lead the middle group and may even challenge Ferrari and Mercedes.
On Sunday, February 9, a football match was held between All Stars and FC De Rebellen to provide cash aid to earthquake victims in Turkey.
The match, which started with a moment of silence for the earthquake victims who lost their lives, was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to The Hague Selçuk Ünal and the embassy staff as spectators.
B.M.T. 3000 people watched this match organized by the Football Club. The club announced that the ticket revenue will be donated to AFAD for charity.
Christian Atsu, the Ghanaian football player of Hatayspor, who was under the rubble in the 6 February earthquakes, lost his life.
Sad news came from the football player Christian Atsu from Hatayspor, who was under the rubble after the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and caused destruction in 10 provinces. “Christian Atsu was found and unfortunately passed away,” said the player’s manager, Murat Uzunmehmet.
Hatayspor commemorated the athlete Atsu, who lost his life on Twitter, and shared that his funeral was on his way to his hometown, Ghana.
Information was shared that Atsu was rescued from the rubble of a building destroyed in the disaster. However, the 31-year-old Ghanaian’s manager in London, Nana Sechere, later shared on Twitter on February 8 and 9 saying that Atsu had not been found yet.
Sechere told Mirror about her pre-earthquake moments. Stating that he last heard from Atsu at midnight on Sunday, Sechere said that the football player was at a friend’s house until late and went to his own house only 20 minutes before the earthquake. “He was at a friend’s house until about 3:30 pm. It took him about half an hour to get back to his own house, and 20 minutes later the earthquake struck. I didn’t know anything until I got a phone call from a club official at 5 am asking if I had heard from Christian. He told me “He said that Christian’s building was completely destroyed and they couldn’t reach him.”
“I was hoping the earthquake wasn’t while he was sleeping”
Noting that club officials were trying to help Atsu reach him, the manager said, “I was hoping he was awake and the earthquake wasn’t while he was sleeping. He was on the ninth floor of an 11-story building. Club officials were trying to help me find him, but it was very difficult because understandably, they also had their own friends and family. they were trying to find.

Top of the Dutch League
Ahmetcan Kaplan topped the list of the most expensive transfers from the Super League to the Dutch league Eredivisie. After Ahmetcan, Matus Bero, who transferred to Vitesse for 1.64 million Euros, is in the 2nd place, and Şota Arveladze, who went to Ajax, is in the 3rd place with 1.6 million Euros.
